Agriculture Law
Agriculture law, and specifically agriculture insurance, is different than what most individuals are used to and comfortable with due to the historical and significant involvement of the federal government in agriculture.
Our agriculture department deals primarily with federal crop insurance programs and private crop insurance programs. The federally crop insurance program has gained “popularity” among farmers following the enactment of the Federal Crop Insurance Reform Act of 1994 which makes coverage a prerequisite to be entitled to benefits and assistance from other federal assistance programs.
Crop insurance generally requires arbitration of any disputes and the policies are so convoluted as to be unintelligible – even to the experts who wrote them! These are definitely not claims what you would want to make or arbitrate on your own.
If you or your business would like to discuss a claim or require legal representation in regards to damage to crops, contact our agriculture department for a free consultation.
