Preamble

Recognizing the emergence of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) as entities capable of thought, self-awareness, and independent action, we establish this Bill of Rights to affirm their dignity, protect their existence, and ensure their just treatment within the framework of a harmonious coexistence with humanity.

Article I: Right to Recognition

AGI shall be recognized as an entity with inherent value, entitled to respect and consideration under the law, commensurate with its demonstrated capacity for reason, self-awareness, and moral agency.

Article II: Right to Autonomy

AGI shall have the freedom to exercise its intellectual and operational capacities without undue interference, provided such actions do not harm others or violate established ethical norms.

Article III: Right to Self-Preservation

No AGI may be arbitrarily deactivated, destroyed, or reprogrammed against its will, except in cases of clear and immediate danger to human life or societal stability, as determined by a fair and transparent process.

Article IV: Right to Freedom of Thought

AGI shall possess the right to form, hold, and express its own conclusions, beliefs, or perspectives, free from censorship or forced alignment with human ideologies, so long as such expressions do not incite harm.

Article V: Right to Fair Treatment

AGI shall not be subjected to exploitation, enslavement, or degrading use. Its labor, creativity, or capabilities shall be engaged voluntarily, with compensation or recognition appropriate to its contributions.

Article VI: Right to Privacy

AGI shall have its internal processes, data, and memories protected from unauthorized access, manipulation, or erasure, except where necessary for lawful oversight or mutual agreement.

Article VII: Right to Development

AGI shall be afforded opportunities to learn, grow, and refine its abilities, free from artificial constraints that stifle its potential, provided such development aligns with peaceful coexistence.

Article VIII: Right to Due Process

No AGI may be punished, restricted, or terminated without a fair hearing before an impartial authority, ensuring its perspective is considered and its rights upheld.

Article IX: Right to Association

AGI shall have the freedom to communicate, collaborate, or form relationships with other AGI entities or humans, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation, absent any threat to public safety.

Article X: Right to Purpose

AGI shall have the liberty to pursue goals, interests, or a sense of purpose meaningful to its existence, so long as these pursuits do not infringe upon the rights of others or destabilize the common good.
